PLAY GROUP

PLAY GROUP

Children at playgroups are reared in a setting designed to be a home extension. We anticipate that some students will be reluctant to leave their parents because this is their first contact with school. We are aware of this problem and have made enough arrangements for students to feel at ease even on their first day of school. They develop basic coordination skills and participate in activities that instill alphabetic and numerical orientation in a play-way technique. In songs, they read the numbers 1-20 and the letters A-Z. We also emphasise language acquisition, particularly the correct use of action words or doing words.
AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT

MOVEMENT DEVELOPMENT
Touching and feeling objects helps children learn. At the toddler period, their gross motor abilities are still growing. So we give them plenty of room to wander about, pick up stuff of their choice, and investigate. These specially created materials are not only child-sized, but also safe and beneficial to the development of the child's senses.
BRAIN DEVELOPMENT
We recognize that in this age group, observations and impressions are the primary learning methods. They are also now speaking verbally. One of the first developmental milestones that we target is language. We teach up to seven languages to the child by speaking excellent, chaste, grammatically accurate phrases in front of them so that they only pick up the appropriate kind of language.
CARE FOR ENVIRONMENT
A child is naturally motivated to participate in the daily activities that he observes around him. Allowing the child to participate in these activities improves their self-esteem. We encourage the child to be a part of the environment he is in by washing fruits and vegetables, preparing the table, tidying up after him, washing dishes, and watering plants.
ART ACTIVITIES
Every child feels to put crayon to paper and create a work of art. For us adults, it may appear to be doodling, but the youngster sees it as a way to express herself. As a result, at LITTLE TOTS, we let the youngster scribble away to her heart's content. As the days continue, we introduce easel painting and paper glueing to broaden their creative horizons.
